Inspired by The Trial Before Christmas, this 30 minute documentary film by Lisa Grace investigates the over 200-year mystery of who wrote the most famous Christmas poem ever, Twas the Night Before Christmas published for the first time in Troy in 1823. It’s a story full of twists, turns, even intrigue that will delight holiday audiences. This film premiered on Saturday evening Dec. 7, 2024, the night before Victorian Stroll, as a fundraiser for the Sidewalk Warriors of Troy, a charity that provides groceries to those in need.
Several people interviewed in this film were involved in The Trial Before Christmas, including Trial creator Duncan Crary, Trial co-creator and attorney representing Livingston Jr. Jack Casey, 'Twas editor and researcher Pamela McColl, Livingston Jr. descendant Mary S. Van Deusen, and Rensselaer County Historian Kathy Sheehan.
